Default AUII Fairmont door locking problem just started!

Guys...
I made two stops on my way around town today...the first was normal in every way..but the second was not!
When I activated the remote door locking after parking the second time, the locks locked, then immediately unlocked and the horn sounded, indicating to me that one of the doors was not properly closed.
I checked all the doors...all OK, and tried again, with the same response!

No problem I thought, I'll check it out when I get home. The car started quite normally, and we set off home. During the drive, I noticed the interior dome light was on, and, when I selected any turn indicator, the interior light also flashed in unison, when the turn indicator canceled, the interior light then just stayed on again.

When I got home, I checked out the locking system. First I tried the door locking manually (with the key), and it worked fine, all doors locked and stayed locked. But I noticed when I unlocked the (drivers) door, only that door unlocked, but when I actually opened the door, all the other doors unlocked. At this stage, the interior light was on continuously, it didn't 'time-out' as it usually did.
Then I tried to remote lock again, and it all worked quite normally!
But, after I remotely unlocked it again, and opened the door, again, all the other doors unlocked!
A few minutes later it wouldn't remote lock again, so I got inside closed all doors, and tried to lock all the doors with the dash door lock selector, same again, it simply locked and immediately unlocked again!

I'm looking for some answers to this problem, as the manual is not of much use.
In it's current unreliable condition, the wife is not willing to take the car anywhere, normally that's a good thing, but not under these conditions.

Anyone had similar problems or knows of a probable fix, I need some help here.

Cheers...

Sounds like the BEM is cactus, dont see any other way why the indicators would be linked to the dome light and also linked to the door locks? They all go through the one computer unit.

Is it a wagon? If so, this may help:

Thanks for your input guys...

As a result of some investigative reading in some of the other forums running here, I realized that the Fairmont has a 'door ajar' indicator on the dash, something I don't usually take much notice of.
Well, I found that with all doors closed, the indicator shows that the left rear door is still open, I guess that is what is driving these funny indications, or at least somewhere to start.

Tonight (Thurs 12/8) I'm going to follow the wiring loom down the center pillar, and into the grommet at the bottom, hoping to find a plastic canon-plug just in there, again hoping that it's been contaminated with water.

If that be the case, that's an easy fix (I'll do the other side as well!), and be on my way!

Anyway, for recording purposes in case anybody else gets this problem, I'll report back soon to record the outcome, if any!

Cheers, 4ford
