old man sent me this message about living expenses for work, like i said glad i dont live in russia
Anyway here I am in not so sunny downtown Moscow and have been since September 3rd and will be till October 29th. Am staying at the Radisson Hotel which is a 4 star pub with a rack rate of US$400 a day but we are only paying $200 including taxes. It’s a relief because meals are about $30 for anything and nightly beers about $60.00. I went to get a haircut and beard trim at the hotel barbershop and checked the cost first – they wanted $188.00 – you can imagine what I did. Anyway I got a car and driver $25 and went and found a barber down the road who charged $14.00 so with tip I was back at the hotel for a bit over $40. :

And whats the bet, like most eastern european countries... they tend to have a price for everything, and then a seperate price for foreigners...

well he is there on business so he cant really go out looking for good prices,as for the hotel he got a deal were he pays $200us a night, still thats f=-king steep. "if you look like a tourist you'll get screwed like one" "Getting around is quite difficult because of distance, weather and lack of English signs not too mention scam merchants that hang around the tourist areas and seem to get away with murder" thats from the horses mouth, but when you are 68 you have to be carefull with the decisions you make as you are not 20 years old and can defend yourself all that well.

the most i think i've ever paid for beer was in stockholm, around 14 bucks! but i guess it was big.
here in hong kong we're normally paying around 11 bucks. our average room rate (i work in a 5 star hotel) is $230 a night today!!! so he's probably doing alright for rooms.... sucks i know. is he getting a rub and tug perhaps for his $20 shandies?? lol it's dodgy there i'll definitely agree to that one. |
