Default Loosing oil

Hi all
I have a small problem
This afternoon i checked my oil and bits under the bonnet and noticed the oil level was half way down on the dipstick
Oil was replaced about 4000km ago, but there is no puddles under the car.
Any ideas on what could be wrong.
I will see if the filter has losen a little, but otherwise i have no idea

You sure it isn't leaking from somewhere? I would have thought you'd notice it burning 2.5 litres of oil.

Couple of hundred mills tops. You wouldn't notice it burning.

^^^ What rob said. Between the "Low" and "Full" mark on the dipstick is 500 ml, max.
What grade oil are you using? I was using 15W-40, and had the same problem - it was burning a fair bit. I switched to 20W-50, and although the problem is not gone, it has helped a lot.

Yeah i swapped from 15w/40 to 20w/50. I checked the oil this morning and it is just below the full mark.
So i dont know what was wrong.
