HI all, this is probably a silly question. I have am trying to clean up an EB SeriesI I just bought and have been chasing a no vacuum and air conditioning problem. The no vacuum turned out to be a brass vacuum hose tree fitted to the inlet manifold not being drilled out to allow vacuum to be applied to the small vacuum hoses. There is a fitting attached to the thermostat housing which has two vacuum hoses connected to it. I can find no reference to it in the manuals I have. Can anyone explain what this is and what it does.

those two hoses are the aircon recirc overide. basically when the car is overheating those two hoses are connected to a valve which switches the aircon from fresh to recirc to reduce the load on the air con and therefore the heat in the condenser. In later models this feature is controlled by the ecu

Thanks NZ, that explanation is a big help. I had a hunch it was'nt anything to do with the aircon problem I'm chasing and will save me wasting time learning what is going on the hard way.
