Suggestion: Galaxie Section

Good evening all,

As the title suggests, I was wondering if it were feasible to create a Galaxie section. Now I understand that posts could be slotted under US Fords along with the explorer, but this was an Australian assembled car for nearly 10 years, much in the same way as Falcons of the same era. It also cant be slotted into a section that covers a car of its type (ie: the small & mid-sized section), as the only large car section is the Falcon. So maybe altering to large size Ford section (keeping the sub-sections as is & just adding Galaxie to it) as opposed to strictly Falcon may help keep it tidy.

Also, the amount of Galaxie owners on AFF seems to be steadily increasing. It would be a massive help to share information on these cars with fellow owners in a readily accessable way, as a lot of posts done in US fords seem to go amiss by potential viewers.

Experiences, information, parts and so forth are quite difficult to find and I feel a section dedicated to Gals would go a long way to helping owners.

I also understand that im not a donating member at this point, so I apologise in advance if im overstepping here. I intend to make an effort in monetary contribution soon, as this site has been a priceless source of information for me.

Hmmm...I was set to make a thread in here asking if a pre 1950 ford section could be created. I'll just put that request here. I have a few hotrodder mates with very old ford coupes and 4door rods with both ford flathead and yblock V8's, as well as chev and hemi engines. They would join aff if a section for them and others was here. Once other vintage ford owners heard of the section I'm sure they would be keen to jump on board.
Actually, pre 1960 might make more sence; 1954 ford coupe owner across the road from me will be all on his own !!

Thats a great idea too Iggy,

- Y-blocks and flatheads are just as popular

- Pre '60 Fords is a section that would be useful as they are very popular (even the Cusso was an Oz delivered car for a while)

- Plus I suppose we can't forget our english brother, the Zephyr. But that could simply be slotted in with Capri, escort, etc.

- On a side note, adding a Fairalne section maybe be "stretching" it a bit (pun intended), as most Lanes were just stretched falcons. Despite the "tank" and the "compact".

The only reason I saw need for a pre 1960 section is because there are so many different fords from that era that they don't really fall into their own category, excepting US fords, obviously, but there are euro fords from pre 1960 too. I just thought they where that special they deserve a section dedicated to their owners and the cars.

It's a good suggestion, but I'm not sure it'd get much traffic...

If you want to talk about nothing but Galaxies, there are several US-based forums out there to cater for it. The keys differences between them and adding a sub-section here are:

1. There are THOUSANDS of people on the other forums, with all types of Galaxies.
2. They know pretty much everything about them.

No saying it's a bad idea - far from it. But when I need to know something I head over there to search and/or ask the question because I'm almost guaranteed an answer...

To further explore this thread, I think it would be better to put Ford Explorer with “Utes, Vans and Ranger” sub-forum.

Then have a stand alone “Classic American Fords” sub-forum for Galaxies/Mustangs and the like.

We are considering the suggestions. From my viewpoint it is probabably best to group things as much as possible but there are probably a couple of different ways to achieve this.

Iggy's suggestion has some merit though .... a Pre Classics section for Aussie cars pre XK ...... ?? Customlines, Galaxies, etc

I agree with iggy i have friends with early fords with nothing here for them they would not be inclined to join.

Thanks guys. I went over the road to see Ashley last night, he has a '31 hotrod and a 51' chopped 4 door, both of high quality. If he knew there was a ford site with a section for these kinds of cars with other Australian owners in it too, he would sign up and contribute what he can. He has a large number of mates in the scene, many with hotrods built on ford bodies or chassis' and powered by Yblock or flathead engines. He would extend the invite out there if the section where made. Thanks for the consideration guys.
