Default orange indicators

what is the go with orange indicators?

I thought they were only for series 1, yet I have seen series 2 with them on as well.

This is not just T series but plain jane Falcons and Fairlanes.

Series III got them as standard.

Series I Fairmonts, Fairmont Ghias, Fairlanes and LTDs got them to start with.

series 2 fairmont was orange (also has the orange globe lens inside the headlight),
it was fairmont ghia on that got clear
my folks have a fairmont and ive contemplated putting the clear ones on, would look dodgy with the fairmont headlights though

ps, shouldnt this just be in the AU section........ i mean its not exactly a tickford related Q

All series 1 had orange plastic with clear clobes.
The series 2 "low series" ie forte, futura got orange plastic with clear clobes and
the series 3 all had clear plastic with clear orange clobes.

Yeah, MADNC_8 I think it should be moved.

lol 3 different answers.....

Cheif's answer makes sense except I have seen S2 Fairlanes with orange indicators, and going by MADNC_8 it has a flaw.

I guess all S3 had clear as stated by ShockWaveXR6na. But not sure what he said by "Series I Fairmonts, Fairmont Ghias, Fairlanes and LTDs got them to start with" as my TL50 has orange indicators.

Surely there must have been an official plan on using them...

In the Case of Side inidicators.

No Series II models got clear...

Only early Series I Fairmonts, Fairmont Ghias, Fairlane Ghias and LTD got them. Update Series I only got orange bulbs, even the Fairmonts etc.

Series III all had Clear.

Tailights.

Only series I Fairmonts and Fairmont Ghias had Clear

Series II - whole Range had Clear, and same for Series III.

Same ... I had the orange ones on my AUII ute .... but once i got the clear ones off www.ozeparts.com.au ... it made that car look so much cleaner ... especially being a white one as well.

The early build T3's also had the yellow indicators as well before the release of AUIII. After it was officially released the side indicators were subsequently changed to clear ones, with the exception of the pilot build examples.
