search this item number in ebay... 140484602584
this will allow you to use any 6 or 6.5' speaker. Not only do round speakers sound better but due to availability they tend to be priced $30-$40 cheaper then the 5x7 equivilent. Honestly at 15 bucks, you cant go wrong here |

I had to fiddle quite a bit to get my Type X's to fit. There is literally a cigarette paper clearance between the window at the rear and the speaker grill at the front. I made my own spacers out of 12mm mdf and then rebated the speaker into it, bit by bit. The Hertz's I had before the Alpine's were not quite as tight a fit. I probably had a millimetre to play with. It will depend on the mounting depth of the speaker. No such problems if you don't want to use the factory grills. |

It's a nice sound and all but a lot of mucking around. Mind you, the sound in the BF I had for a week sounded pretty ordinary but I think decent 5 x 7s would go a long way to improving that (not that I'm likely to end up in a BF...) |

The latest Type R 5 x 7s have a 64mm mounting depth. My Type X 6.5" woofers have a mounting depth of 65mm and iirc the spacer is 5mm (or maybe 6mm) with a hairs breadth clearance between speaker and window. |
