G-day im wouter

pardon my English i used to live in WA and live a wile in the Netherlands again.

I stumbled on this site, A lot of conversions here. My first car and I still drive escort MK1.

Cheapest way to go about it.

Why I build my car: some one insulted me that my car is old and doesn’t meet standards. It stinks and doesn’t break.

Way I built my car: First bigger front breaks of the Capri, taunus ect, rear disk breaks for the mk1 (front disk breaks ripped of the fiesta these fit on the rear ***)

Engine: Mondeo 1,8i fits nicely. If going for 2l use 1.8 water pump and accessories. Why 1.8 because these are strong, these engines are drilled up from a 1.6 to 1.8 and 2.0. Make you’re one oil pan or bye one fitted.

Sierra gearbox (5 speed) with Mondeo fly wheel and pressure Things (lost the word)

I think that this is what the man is talking about in the first poast

Greatings Wouter

Hi Wouter, good to hear from someone who has done the conversion successfully. Can you post any photos of it?

We only had the 2.0 version of the Mondeo - what difference is there from the 1.8 water pump and accessories you mention? Would the 1.8 engine from a Focus be the same?

Cheers,
John

Default zetec

Just wondering if anyone has used a zetec from a transit into an escort, and does anyone know what the gearbox is in the transit.

transits didnt have zetecs they had the DOHC engine that preceded it (dont think that engine was in any other aussie car) lateish transits (around 1998) use a MT-75 similar to the sierra gearbox that the UK guys love so much, but the shifter location is all wrong (its right up under the dash - good for benchseated cars) later transists have the shifter in a better place (much further back over the output flange) but im unsure of what engine they bolt up to (maybe a duratech of some kind???) im currently fitting a 2.0 zetec and MT-75 to a MKII cortina
