Default Why can't I sort by number of replies or views?

I'd like to be able to sort by the above criteria to see which are the most popular threads. But when I use the advance search function and enter a number, it responds with "Please specify some words or valid user names to search on". Are there any other sort functions available?

At the bottom of each section, e.g pub, bar, Turbo's etc, there a box that says 'display options'. In that there's a sort by, and you can pick from things including No. of Views or No. of replies.
I hope that's you mean
