I have a 3 year old Ford Fairmont Ghia (that is out of warranty). When I bought the car I knew it had rust in the boot, a small amount of surface rust on the inside of the drivers door and a very small spot under the bonnet. My plan was to fix it myself as it was nothing too serious. I was browsing the forums one day and found that all Falcons have a 5 year warranty on rust. I took my car to Kloster Body Works in Newcastle to inquire further. They had a look at the car, noted the spots of rust and took some pictures and sent them off to Ford Australia.
On Monday morning I dropped the falcon off at Kloster Body Works and picked it up Tuesday afternoon RUST FREE. I couldn't believe how easy the process was. Every time I've been to Kloster Ford Service in Newcastle they've been very rude (pack of b*****ds) and any warranty work that has needed to be done I've had to fight for. I was expecting to argue with Ford over this, but in this case there was no questions asked, no money to pay or forms to fill out. If you have rust in your Falcon and it's less then 5 years old I'd be getting Ford to have a look at it.

I had a small bit removed in my AU nearly 10 years ago under warranty.
Same deal, couple of pictures, a quote from MY prefered panel beater and it was all done and finished within a week from when i bought it to their attention. |

I am recieving a new bonnet courtesy of Ford for the Terry, out of the 3yr warranty but within the 5yr perforation warranty.
At least I didn't have to argue this one

I wouldnt worry too much about it, Willo. Its an XC. Its made from serious metal. Not a bit with fiberglass kits on it, & excessive plastic in the interior.................

My BA XR8 had plenty of rust in the boot. My mate at work had some in his BA which was repaired by the same mob as the OP however I understand that it had to be done again later down the track. We decided that it was better to get rid of our 4 year old rust bucket and get something with a bit more build quality. Good luck on the repairs 2.8L

To bad my Ba is too old for warranty.
I noticed some rust staring to develop in a join in the floor pan while changing the fuel filter last week. I hit it with a wire wheel, and resprayed that section. |

So you just accepted that! A brand new top of the line product and you thought that it being rusty was OK! Beats me. Do I live on another planet? |

Why would a few small spots of surface rust that I could fix myself scare me off?

Wish I had realised there was a 5 year warranty on the rust with my Territory...
I'm another that has got an 'always garaged' second hand terry... and it has the usual rust on the rear tailgate under the seal.... Its certainly not life threatening to the car - but i'd rather it be fixed for nothing...

There is a thing about merchantable quality, it's a long shot but the vehicle in question should, in laymans terms, should be of a good quality for a reasonable period of time.
I am quite sure that our many legal eagles here on this forum could elaborate.

I had a bubble of rust in my 4/1/2 yr old explorer, took it to a ford dealer and they rang and had a new bonnet on it in a week no issues or money
