I went on a bit of a trip on the weekend, around 1200km all up.
Trip down, 500km, 9.2L/100km Around town, 200ish km, 18.98L/100km Trip home, with an extra person (made 5 people all up, and packed to the top of the boot, and inbetween everyones legs), 500km, 10.2L/100km Really happy with the consumption, except around town which is to be expected 9.2L/100km and the ability to run mid 14's, Epic win.

I run a VCT 4.0 L in a Fairlane AU11, regular run Brisbane to Hervey Bay, then run the gateway every arvo till I go home.
When I do night shift and an almost trouble free run on the freeway, Petrie to Eagle Farm, I can get better than 10 Litres per 100 K's but with daytime running it can drop below 11 litres per 100 km's. Average displayed on the trip computer is 11.2 litre per 100k's, I would say that is pretty close to the mark. As a fuel tanker driver I know what we are sell from our sites, I swap between E10 95 and ULP with the best results gained on ULP 91. I would be very wary of using these new ULP 91 + ethanol as the price does not justify the amount of fuel used. If you are going to run an Ethanol fuel, go with one of the E10 95 blends. Just my two cents. |

this is all town driving though, hardly goes on the highway but the trip computer doesnt drop the average...maybe 0.1L on a 150km drive (75 each way) tried everything to get the thing running any lower but nothings worked...apart from a high flow cat coz the stock one was stuffed...use to run anywhere from 17-19L only thing left to change i think is the fuel filter otherwise im stumped

Have u replaced your spark plugs and leads? if not i highly recommend you do. i changed mine and instantly i got better fuel economy. Im now getting around 460-500 to a tank.

If, for example, the average is 15 after 10,000kms of city driving, it (the average) won't drop much after 150kms of country driving. All the trip computer knows is that you've done 10k kms at 15 and 150kms at 10? and so will average it out at 14.9 (or whatever). |

great thread this lots of handy info
On the weekend went from berwick(south east melbourne) to digby(western vic) with a total of about 410kms each way in the fairlane with highway cruising all the way, stopping at at total of maybe 4 or 5 sets of lights!! i got to 679kms before topping up on the way back between ballarat & bacchus marsh. the trip computer was saying i had 18kms to go til empty Combo: VCT i6 KM driven: 818 Fuel Type: Unleaded from Shell Average L/100km: 12.1 i didn't think to reset the computer before i set out but will definitly do this before the next trip. that will make for some more interesting data |

For the old-school among us (ie anyone who remembers what they were doing when Gough got the big A), once you have l/100km, you can divide that into 282.48 to get MPG.
Eg: 10l/100km, 282.48 / 10 = 28.248 MPG
