Default EL I6 harmonic balancer same as EF?

I need a new balancer for my EF I6 is the EL one the same?

yes they are the same, the EF has a cog wheel at the back that can be split off or left on, but otherwise no difference.

The EL one is missing the ring. If you decide to put your old ring onto the EL balancer, be careful you dont split it, and make sure you put it on at the right angle - it sets your base ignition timing.

Ok well i have bought a new el one for 20 bucks off ebay so what exactly do i need to do to put it on my ef?

once you've taken it off and compared them, youll notice the missing part on the EL one. a screwdriver, hammer, and some patience will be all you need.

EF balancers changed 8/96, don't know what the difference is but guy at motor traders told me
