Hi all,
I've just recently bought a 1975 MkI Escort 1300 4dr XL. The two front seats are pretty tired, can I swap them out for MkII seats easily (eg same bolt hole fit ups etc???) Also should I be putting any LRP (lead replacement product) into the tank once in a while, what with it being a fairly old motor and all that? Also what weight of oil is recommended for these engines? This is my first 'old car' project and have a fairly good idea, but just thought I'd post my questions out to some experts for confirmation. From memory I had no issues with swapping front seats...
Though some say I was born with an angle grinder, hammer and welder in my hands .. Lol.. Some upper cylinder lube either in tank or as some sort of injection into inlet manifold.. Doesn't require much to make a difference... There's lead replacement additive at service stations etc that can be added.. I just used a squirt of 2 stroke oil in every fill from an old yellow Penetrene bottle kept in boot.. Look through here:::http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdi...aysprune=&f=80

in my dads old mk1 we had to drill into the floor plan and welded a nut, so we could bolt the seats down we fitted rs2000 seats to his mk1

75 is a late model mki so they should bolt in but from memory some of the MK2 ones are still different. In which case you should be able to just unbolt the runners and bolt them to your MKI runners and just bolt them back in. I always use Penrite HPR 30 in old engines unless its quite worn then use 40. the kent motors are a tuff little engine and will run for ever if maintained.

I'll be whipping the seats out this week, I'll see how it all looks. I'll have to get some pics posted up once the resto/mods take shape. |
