They must have been breaching many times before. Your not allowed to just fire someone for a first time offence.

A severe enough breach will get you the a** first time...I would hazard a guess and suggest that lying on a meat grinder...is enough to say 'bye bye'...

If a 'memo' had gone out as had been in other businesses, this would also cover Woolies for sacking them...

Incorrect, you can be 'told to leave' on the first offense, ive seen it first hand. If its severe enough it can happen

Only time I've tried planking is when I was on top. Was a bit hard to be a plank though.

Never said it was severe, what i said was you can be 'sacked' on the first instance. I dont know these employee's history so i cant say if it was the first instance of not adhering to company policy.

health and safety breaches can all result in instant dismissal, it is in the woolies code of conduct for good reason, they also need to instantly make an example of people to stop it in its tracks, its like trying to say to the police "this is the first time i drove three times over the blood alcohol limit endangering not only myself but everyone else around me, wont you give me three warnings before taking my licence?" Rules are rules written in black and white, don't like the consequences dont break the rules...

on a lighter note im quite a fan of endurance planking, i try to achieve at least 6 hours of it every night, unless a dont have time due to tandem planking

Someone was on top of a meat grinder...

Another was two metres off the ground...on shelves

The other was on milk crates...

The first two...I'd have them out the door before they could get off it.

An employer has a responsibility to provide a 'safe working environment' for their staff, they don't care if it's 'a little bit of fun'...they care that it becomes their liability should something happen.

I've been through this whole thread and I can still not see, anywhere, that this is just not a pretty poor indictment of where we are at. What the hell is so newsworthy of being a planker, for christs sake!!! Is this what we call entertainment now(who cares wether it is harmless fun, diluting the gene pool, or justifying the Darwin theory). I'm guessing that, to anyone over 30-40 years of age ,this is just plain stupid!!!
I don't get how this is cool, or even funny. Please explain.
I can recall what I did when I was young with a belly full of beer(or a head full of ......), and it certainly didn't involve getting some bored moron taking a photo of another bored moron laying prone on a landmark doing nothing!!
I think we may have had a litle more fun!!!

This has been done to death and frankly has started to go the way of the other. No need to start a third one.
