Default strange noise?

Theres a very loud strange noise comming from my engine (EF gli, 584,000km)
You cant seem to hear it when the car is driving, but when ideling its VERY loud...sounds almost like the crank has snapped!
I looked..and it looks like one of the pulleys infront of the motor is jumping up and down..(not sure on which pulley it is...donno name of it)
is this a common problem?

It also seems weird that a small pulley (maybe 7cm in width) would make such loud noise..
and also when you go and listen at the end of the exaust...the exaust shoots out the fumes at the same cycle as the noice...is this a co-insidence?

Any help appriciated!

Thanks!

its the idler bearing .... thats all
take the idler bracket off with the 3 10mm bolts and the pulleys are held on from behind with a 18 <-- I think bolt

You also need to take off the fan belt and remove the fans

yeah just look at the top gear episode where they tried to kill the hilux. it just kept on going no matter what they did to it.

Yeah, that episode was insane. Wrecking balls, drowning it, setting fire to it, demolishing a building with the hilux on top of it. It just kept going!
