Default Capri V6 1972 Breaks

Hi All

As You All Know I Just Finished Building My Ford Capri V6 . Now Every Thing Was Built To New Or Replaced .
I Was Wanted To Bring This Up To See If Anyone Has Had The Same Dealing. Or Not
Break Pedal Not The Best Stops But I Think Could Be Alot Better,
But Saturday Just Went By . I Was At Pedders Just Cheaking Few Things Out . And Since The Owner Is A Friend Of Mine . He Was Telling Me If My Cam In The Car Is To Big And Lumpy . It Will Cause My Boster. To Have Not Eoungh Presure For My Pedal .
He Was Telling Me To Get It Tested And If I Dont Have The Presure There . I Need Anther Tank To Supplie More Presure To The Boster. Is This True Or Is There Anther Story To Fix This Pedal Problem Up.
Iam Very Open To All Sugestion

its true, sort of. I work on the theory of 7" boosters for disc/drum. 8" for disc/disc. I am still doing my capri around my mrs coupe, used a vh40 in mine. wont be a radical engine , just a warm 302 winger. you can possibly look at a dual diaphram booster or run a dedicated vacuum pump to supply the booster. Seperate tanks for brake boosters are a bit of a bandaid solution in my eyes. If you are on and off the brakes enough, it will simply run out of vac eventually. Ideally u would like to see around 20" of vacuum to operate ya brakes well. a lot of diesels run vac pumps, but usually they are belt driven, so unless ya have room and can make brackets forget pinchin one of them. a electric will set ya back about 400 sheckels and u can mount it anywhere ya want and run a line to ya booster for supply. good to see ya got ya motor back n kickin too.

i have heard you can get an Land-Rover Defender Master Cylinder.NRC869

this is a 1" (25mm) bore rather than the capri 5/8 bore (22.5mm) so i am told

The servo or Booster you need to fit the larger master cylinder is from a 2 litre Capri Laser - GL etc but nothing else. It's the same size as a 2.8 / 3 litre but the studs are M10 and you can not see into the unit around the spindle. Do not get stuck with a 1.6 unit, it is not large enough to do the job. These are recognised by the vacuum fitting being at 12 'O' clock rather than 2 'O' clock. Pedal and bulk head fittings are the same.

also check out http://www.zyworld.com/caprisport/1_brakes.htm the bad thing is they are in the UK, the good thing they know heaps..

good luck and keep us posted...
