roof lining repair

anyone recommend roof lining repairer in Brisbane? How much?

Do they remove the original ************ grey material and replace it over your existing backing or are they a full replacement?

The trick is to get it when it starts to come away at the corners. Let it go and it gets bad really quick. I just use a dab of glue to stick it back into place, and you can't tell. If it goes further than that though, you are up for the full treatment.

Yes but it doesnt always come away at the corners. My corners and edges are good as gold, but the middle bits hang down and touch my head. Not much to be done there..

I'll have to look into this place at Moorooka, sounds like the go.

When they redo the hoodlining do they use a similar material to original? Am after a black one to match the trim but dont really want to pay big dollars for a trim shop to do a custom one if i can avoid it.

Mine was coming away at the edge across the windscreen. I used the wifes' heavy duty hairspray. It has been holding for about 4 months so far. I didn't have the money at the time for a new lining, and now that I have the money, the bugger hasn't let go....Touch Wood...........(hope the wife doesn't read this)

Mine started to droop along the rear window.
All I had was some "No More Nails" so smeared a bit along the rear edge, pushed the lining back up and two years later it's still there

I just called these guys, they quoted me $275 and it apparently takes 4 hours!
(5 door hatch without a sunroof). Seems their prices have inflated a bit in the past year or so...

i had your same problem in the same spot.glued it myself and walla problem solved costs nothing. fixed in 1 minute

i used to be a trimmer when i was 16, the technique is to remove the material (fabric, whatever) then you use a wire brush, and your hands etc to physically remove all the glue left on the board, (it just crumbs off in little peices) once completely clean (no, you wont get ALL the glue off, just all the big/loose bits)

you spray on new glue, just contact adhesive (whether in a gun, or can) let it sit for about 10-30seconds,

then spray some on the back of the new material you have, then with 1 or 2 people helping you, lay it down onto the board firmly and evenly, push all the bits like for the sunvisors etc (the fabric will stretch, and the glue will hold it into place to hug the curves)

then get a knife and trim off all excess. job done!

its literally that easy. no special techniques, etc.

(though this is as far as i am aware.. there might actually be different ways to do it lol :P)

forgot the first step, (debatebly obvious) remove the head lining (NOT called roof lining) and rest it on the floor material face up.
