can someone tell me if front rotors can vibrate at high speed without using the brake.when i purchaced my xr6 they were machined .also slowing down from say 100 kmph they vibrate when using the brake.can the rotors be warped . cheers .

If when slowing down while braking they would definately be warped. What model XR. If pre AU could also be wheel bearing adjustment.

If there's vibration at high speed without touching the brake pedal, the cause is wheel balance.
If there's viration ONLY when you touch the brake pedal, it's the rotors.

Severely warped rotors will vibrate a bit with no brake pedal applied at high speeds, If you hit the brakes and it shakes a bit more its definitely rotors.

another place to check,
the front lower control arm bushes once they are old they can perish/fatigue and sort of go soft too, when you brake they can move around a lot and cause vibrations
