Gday all just need some info on the vct motor and ecu.
I have a 2000 build date fairmont and went to convert the vct parts of another car to mine. What parts do i need and can i use an xr 6 ecu or a fairmont ghia ecu and does it have to be the ecu for that year ?. I think logically the fairmont ghia ecu should work without issue but would apreciate any advice on this conversion. I know about cam limitation etc but i only want to do a small build and think for a road car this mod will be all i will want Thanks |

XR ecu gives more power and adaptive shift. you can't swap series one for series 2/3 or the other way around so series one in series one but series 2 or 3 can be swaped with each other but not to a series one

to get it running properly you need the XR6 HP cam , fuel rail and reg and ECU or you will have difficulties

the head has a different casting but the valves are the same size so I would think minimal difference the BEM will be fine once the car is taught the new ECU they can be married up all this needs to be done by a mechanic with a scan tool.
all the parts can be had a lot cheaper on ebay if you keep an eye out you should be able to do the lot for 200 to 250

Thanks for all the info great not to be treated like an idiot for asking.
I was still into holdens when the au first came out and remember thinking they were shockers. These days after 2 months owning one i couldnt be happier. One website has them rated as the best bang for buck 2nd hand family car around and i have to agree wholeheartedly. Chris at bluepower put it on the dyno and did a few tweaks after i put the pacey 4499s and lukey exhaust ba snorkel and k & n panel filter on and got 119 rwkw out of it from 107 and did it at a very good price. Not huge kw but the acceleration is great and it is now more fun to drive. |
