thats like me, my engine had the big failure, and at the end of the day it was just a matter of some money (and not heaps either) and some time and it was fixed, always good for a laugh.

yeah my ED has seemed to hold up well, not to many problems, most of the things i change are voluntry like performance mods or if it looks cruddy change it. etc. only thing ****ing me off with my car at the moment is the brakes, put in new pads and it feels worse...LOL time for new rotors and better pads!

LOL I guess ;) But my point is that reliability is becoming a hell of a lot more important to me than mucking around doing mods.

Your car is probably just going through a cycle of things f#cking up. All cars seem to go through it after they reach a certain age. I wouldn't want to own your mates VX in 5 years, if you go cheap on maintenance now you'll definately pay for it later on down the road.

When my ED was my daily I went through the same thing, after a while you just replace all the things that wear out and you get some reliability out of the thing.

Once had the clutch and accelerator cable break in a 24 hour period, talk about engineering something to a lifespan. Actually I tried to drive it home with the throttle tied on WOT when the accel cable broke, interesting drive home, ended up towing it.

Some of your grief is self inflicted though, as soon as you start modifying a car and things are being used in a way that they were never designed your bound to have dramas :(.
