Default AUII won't start - code on dash?

G'day guys and girls,

Went to go to work this morning and the car (AUII XR6 Ute, 5 speed) wouldn't start.

Everything has power (lights, stereo etc) but there was just one click and then nothing, the engine doesn't even turn over.

I tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting, but made no difference.

This code/symbol showed up on the dash at one stage:

I'm going to swap batteries with the old man's Falcon tonight and see if that's it.

I know the ute needs a coil (as it has a bad miss under load) and I have one coming, could this be it?

Thanks, Mark

I get this symbol every time the battery is disconnected. I thought it was normal.
When trying to start, I never try try to crank more than twice without turning ignition off before I try again. I tried too many cranks one time and triggered the smart shield. Just a thought.

yes i have had that code also after reconnecting the battery, i`ve noticed if i try and start it immediately, it`s just dead, i switch the ignition off and on again away it goes and the the dash lights come on as normal and no symbol, also noticed after reconnecting battery if i just leave it for about 20/30 seconds it starts first go,
i think i would be checking battery terminals and posts for cleanliness/corrosion, or the battery could be a dunger as you suspect ,can`t see in that pic how many volts is it showing?

Thanks guys.

that`s a good innings for a battery, glad it`s only something simple.
