hi, i recently had a new alpine headunit installed into my au2 fairmont ghia with stock speakers, sub and amp.
But i think there is something up with the wiring with the sub, amp and rear speakers. Its like they are all connected to the one thing. eg when i change the settings on the headunit like turn off the sub it will stay on. however if I unplug the rca connector at the amp the sub goes off, but the rear speakers stay on. Has anyone got any ideas on what to check or how it should be wired up? thanks for the help

There are 2 factory harnesses you've got to use: The big one all your speakers and stuff connect to, and the smaller black one which contains wiring for power to the amp, and the sub (which is all the amp powers)
Take a look at STEP 6 in http://fordforums.com.au/vbportal/mo...article&id=725, which should explain how to do it. I've recently installed a JVC unit into my 75th Ghia and got the sub working perfectly with that guide |

thanks for the reply. it seems to wired as that diagram. Maybe the amp cannot be turned off hence why the sub stays on and can only be turned up or down but not completely off maybe?

No worries buddy. Make sure you get some photos of your Ghia up pronto, always a soft spot for them (mine is looking a bit sad in my driveway)
