Default Changing gears while rollings

Hi Guys,

Ive gotten into the bad habit of changing gears while the car is still rolling, for example when reversing out of a car space, then changing into drive while the car is still rolling backwards. I understand that this is bad for old style automatic tranmissions, but what about the new 6spd powershift for the fiesta?

This member posted a download link, with instruction, on how to do it myself. One week on, the unit hasn't played up once. Three different dealers told me to virtually 'Live with it.

Not really much different to an old auto transmission, just that it's a DSG. I would recommend getting out of that habit.

From what I’ve been reading, most modern cars have protection in the gearbox which prevents engaging forward gears if your car is rolling backwards exceeding a preset speed and vice versa when you’re rolling forward and put the car in reverse and will only engage the gear when you’re at the right speed (or standstill)
However, in older cars without this protection, it’ll prob do a fair bit of damage to the gearbox and it’ll make your engine stall if this was done at speed.
