Default Spending big on a clutch.

Well I am in need of a clutch - I'm going heavy duty for the fact that I want to prepare myself in case a lot of power is put behind my T5 some day. Plus I want to give it some stick heheh..

Anyway, my question for today is:

Is it worth spending 500 pingers on a clutch, or should I stick with a H/D one around the $300 mark? Will one outlast the other in terms of longevity?

ie. Xtreme clutch, or your general H/D one?

Make it two for the day, should I spend 80-100 bucks on a shortened shifter?

i don't know anything bout clutches but id definately go the short throw shifter

The stronger the better. The more time you spend replacing them, the more you will end up spending.

I wouldn't worry too much about heavy duty clutches unless you're planning on SERIOUS power, the standard ford clutches do just fine, and I have no dramas even with my 50 ton aircraft carrier. Also remember that heavy duty clutches shudder pretty badly.

That's interesting Alex considering you have about 170 at the rear bags.... I'd be lucky to even get close to that number I guess. Unless I went all out on a turbo, but if that ever did happen I'd put in a new clutch anyway hehe :alien2:

Just go for a standard HD clutch. I havn't really heard of any 'bad' brands of clutch for the Fords. Just get a PBR or Daikin RPM etc, there all the sam sh*t.

hmmm I tend to think the other way.....from experience. If you skimp on something now, it'll come back to bite you in the *** later on. The perfect example is that if you are planning serious power (turbo, S/C etc) down the track then get the better clutch....otherwise your gonna be sitting on the start line at Heathcote with the clutch slipping instead of the wheels turning.

On the other hand if your just gonna do the usual N/A mods then the regular HD clutch will be fine.
