Default Got the ED dyno'd

Just had my I6 ED dyno'd today to see how the minor mods have lifted performance from standard. She turned the rollers at 121rwkw, that's with pacemaker comp headers, 2.5 inch system and EF XR6 cam. The guy at the dyno reckons it seemed a bit much, but the car may have had some head work done at some stage which coulda lifted the power. It definately feels like it's got a lot more power than before the mods. I was just wondering if 121rwkw sounds reasonable with the minor mods I've done??

Btw, it's also got a XH snorkle!

where did you get it dyno'd?

Sounds good though, tempted to take it to AIR at all?

Tilbrooks at Hampstead Gardens did the dynoing. A.I.R is VERY tempting, especially after a little victory I had over some f**kwits in their VS who were giving me shit at the servo for owning a Ford. Their 17inch Clubsport wheels looked pretty, but didn't help them keep up!

Tilbrook dyno is pretty honest (not too impressed with the guys that work there though, but that is another story).

Good work

Hey StockStandard, please explain about the Tilbrook boys!!!! Was it the fact that their knuckles dragged way too close to the floor, or that you see enough butt-crack to blind you for life! :

121rwkw doesnt sound too far out of the ballpark for the mods you have done.

Its a long story. The short version is they completely buggered up a tune, engine was running very lean, popped a head gasket a few days later.

Fortunately it wasnt my car.

From the looks of their car park I get the impression they are only interested in imports these days

The dyno figure sounds reasonable. I got 109rwkw with only a 2.5" cat back...

Yeah mate, there was plenty of imports there, I must admit I got a couple of strange looks. It's kinda inspired me to do a bit more to the old girl & upset a few of those guys. I might go for the street stealth look, keep the wheels 15 inch, lower it just a bit but concentrate on the engine. I can't wait for my first outting at AIR!

A nice, streetable, even 200rwkw would keep me happy for a while.

Power figure seems accurate. Chris got 123rwkw from an EF ghia with extractors and exhaust (xr6 cam). Mine ran 108rwkw dead stock as well. Definatly get it out to AIR. I cant talk though, ive been meaning to take my boat out there for ages yet have never got my act into gear to do so.

I got 108 rwkw with stock exhaust, standard EF cam and thermofans. 121 rwkw for your mods sounds normal, depending on engine condition.

Stockstandard is referring to my tune. I took my supercharged XR8 there for a tune after installation and after a full day of being there (I was the first job of the morning) I went to pick it up but none of the tuners were there and the dyno printer was stuffed so I got told, yeah I saw one of them playing with fuel pressures so it should be good. Well after haviing problems getting it off the dyno because the supercharger belt was so loose the power steering wasn't working (same belt) I was a bit worried. Anyway in the end, the head gasket let go shortly after, probably on the way home actually and after looking through the dyno info I found that they only tuned it to an AF ratio of 15:1 under boost which is way too lean even for a naturally aspirated engine.

Apparently they use to be good with fords but now it seems anything without a nissan badge on the back and they aren't interested. I would never think of taking my car there again or recommend anyone do the same. But yeah their dyno seems quite conservative so the 121rwkw is probably closer to 130 on the majority of other shootout dynos around, which is a great result for the XR6.
