Default Distributor

Does anybody on the forum know what the problem is with Ford Telstar FS 2 liter distributors. They fail and stop delivering spark. The fix seems to be "buy a new one" is there a cheaper alternative short of buying another car? I ask this here because the "all ford fours" forum is a ghost town. :-) PS, my car is heading for it's third dizzy

What year is a FS telstar? Does it come with the bosch electronic dizzy that has an electronic module with a cover on it at the base of the dizzy?

If so three basic problems that makes them inoperative;

1. thermal/electrical conductive paste fails between module and dizzy body
2. module fails.
3. pick up coil fails(under reluctor plate), test by looking for continuity between terminals 3 and 7 on the module.
