Howdy guys,

What the best way to check if your EL GT rims are genuine or not?

Genuine ones are 17x8.5'' wheres the copies are only 8'' wide.

Genuine ones will have Gold centre caps with a Ford badge IIRC. Copies have silver caps with a Tickford badge. That and the whole width thing as above.

genuine one will also have the part number stamped inside one of the spokes. should be something like 96DA1007.... or something like that

yep, as the other guys have stated, the width (17 x 8.5") and the Ford centre cap (not a tickford one) are the two easiest identifiers, and confirm the part numbers. If you find a set on the net, put up a link and i'm sure the guys can assist in confirming their originality.

It has ford centre caps, just going to check the other stuff and ill get back to this thread.

Also.. just another quick note.. aren't the copies more silver than champaign gold.. mine are champaign gold.

Just pull one off and check the part number and width, the previous owner could of painted it any colour, but IIRC they are champaign not silver

price comes to mind aswell gen EL GT rims come with a hefty price tag on them due to them being rare as hens teeth these days copies come round $1500 range with tyres and stuff trust me i have look at prices
