Default Overflow bottle boiling, temp ok?

Any ideas why this would happen guys?

Temp is showing a little above half but the overflow is rattling its head off boiling.

has it got only water in it? or proper coolant mixture?

are you sure its boiling or is it just bubbling. it hasnt got a blown headgasket by any chance?

Found the problem. The belt has snapped from the water pump and alternator.

Any handy hints on getting a new one on? Looks like the powersteer one will have to come off first.

i got a new one from ford but you can get one wherever you like, you will need a 13mm ring spanner and a 23 or 24 ml open end spanner to get the power steer off then the same thing for the alternator i think.

on the power steer the 13 ml is the tensioner and on the altenator it's the locker, dont get them mixed up or you will strip the teeth.

the motors been cooked, that's why its boiling in the overflow.

The gauge was reading normally, because it's gone past the point of reading hot and you didn't see it, the gauge sender was then reading steam rather than water and that will not give a correct temp reading.

if your lucky a new belt will be all thats needed to fix it, if your unlucky you'll need a new head gasket

did your alternator charge light not come on in the dash??? That'd be the first warning something wasn't right

Wife was driving guys, she did the same thing to our last car a v6's camry.

Yes the battery light was on which is way i checked the alternator.

She still goes alright RATTER....fingers crossed.

I once had boiling/bubbling coolant in the Laser on hot days. Turns out the coolant was some absolute brown sludge that was god knows how many years old. I changed it and it's been fine ever since.

Lol my boss's partner did the same thing. It was a VN with a split radiator tank. for all the seam in the world she didnt stop kept going . motor was just running when she coughed up the driveway.

lol dad's boss's wife did the same thing only in a BMW M5...opps that was a rather expensive mistake.
