Hi guys. Picked up my 2011 LW Sport today, and noticed that when I engage Reverse. The sensor comes up on the centre screen. But no sound?
The reason it is strange is that when I was at the dealership on Friday looking at the car, it actually worked.. Now I cant understand why is doesn't? Looked in the book and it only shows a switch on the console of the Ambiente and Trend, and nothing on the Sony head system? Any idea's? |

Ours only beeps when it actually detects something within the zone behind the car. There is no "switch" .

Thanks mate.. I had a Lexus in Japan, and it beeped slowly and then quickened when getting closer.. The book has a switch on the Ambiente or Trent console if fitted, so thought there may be one one on the Sony unit.. Happy now, thanks for your help!
I am sure I will have more questions in the coming weeks... |

Feel free to ask any questions. Ours is just over a year old now so we have pretty much worked everything out. The only thing that had us puzzled is the interior light switch. It seemed to not do what the book said. We managed to get it working correctly again and now we DON'T touch it. Other people on the forums were perplexed over it too.

Slightly O/T but just remember to be careful when reversing into direct sunlight, my brother has an SS Crumbledore with factory reverse sensors and they failed to alert him on one occasion when he was reversing up to his boat and he ended up with a dent in the rear bar
They're not always 100% reliable under certain conditions :( |

Good advice Russ. Nothing beats your good old fashioned mirrors and looking over your shoulder.

Yeah, as I said, had it on our Lexus in Japan so used to having it .. But yeah, I am **** about mirrors. My wife thinks they are just ornaments, and that shytes me to no end.. Took it for a big drive today, probably did over 300k's, and although I have to get used to the stifness of the suspention and seats (comming from a very comfy to drive Territory) I felt the "sportness" and response when on windy roads.. Still getting used to the 2.0l however.. Always driven V6's...

We found the ride a bit too stiff in the beginning and seemed to feel every bump. I worried that I would never get used to it. We must be used to it now because it seems fine.

Yeah, my wife ( a small Japanese woman) was complaining that the seats were too small? I had to explain that they were sports seats to hold you in.. Because we always drove bigger cars Lexus ES300, Toyota Verossa, and Territory, she just wants everything to be the same... She also complained about the stiffness and ride, again, I had to explain the sports suspention and the fact we were in the country.. Washed the Territory this morning and it is very comfy as compared to the Focus, but I love the sportiness of the Sport model (no pun intended)
Another thing that I have noticed was that the 6 speed powership gearbox actually feels like it changes like a manual (hence the pulling start). I just sat and listened to it, and the sound of the motor just sounded very manual like when changing? I like it.. Just got to get used to the lack of power that I am used to. Or maybe because I am used to the power coming from behind me, and not in front of me.... |
