Default EB 4L Heating up in 33+heat

Has anyone experienced this problem, I have just replaced the radiator brand new genuine from ford, filled with nulon coolant, bled the system, sits on a quarter, in good weather, now it has one 12inch fan in top right hand corner of radiator working as a puller, other fan is on condensor l/h side working as a pusher, now cos i am running a supercharger so i cant put in el fans, now with the a/c on on the monash yesterday, it went above half to, and a/c shutdown, when i take off temp went up, then come down, i was maybe thinking of putting in a electric water pump, to try to combat this problem with the a/c on, any comment would be much apreciated.

regards

I had my ac regassed etc & stock car concerned to your beast
they told me ea eb always run around 3/qs hot & that is
normal for the model check with a certified installer , as my
old ea runs always at 3/qs & i just had it serviced.
That is the temp it displays of course.

With the A/C on, it will go above half easily, and even sit up around the 3/4 mark. As long as it doesn't get near the red, I'd say that's a very good temp for it to be at on a 33 degree day, supercharged, with A/C on..

Yep thats it, especially with the blower you want to keep the engine nice and cool to maxamise power and stop detonation. Get yourself a 3-4 row radiator, replace the water pump if it is old and make sure the thermostat is opening up fully. Also have you checked the clearance of the EL fans, most blown engines I have seen have them fitted and don't have any clearance issues, but if not the 12" single fan should still really move enough air.

I assume you weren't hooning and in boost alot?
If that is the case the blower will not be adding to the heat, how ever, a intercooler will help.
AC is a strain on the motor in two ways. 1st is is extra load on motor and 2nd the air temp through readiator is warmer from the condencer.

If you are in start/stop traffic and not getting car speed then 3/4 is acceptable. It should dropto under 1/2 when you are at cruise speed.

Naaa, back when I was setting up the LTD. I ran her into the red twice and the head gaskets are fine. It's only when you cool them quick.

I don't even think red is 100 degrees?!?

Might sound silly but bonnet vents might not hurt either.

I have got a temp gauge hooked up as well as the dash one working so i can compare what letter in NORMAL = what temp in deg c.
O is about 80c, R is 90c and M is just under 100c.
One day in the city in bumper to bumper the temp gauge hit the red and the little "your too f***ing hot" light came on. Unfortunatley i did nnot have the gauge set up then so i dont know how hot that actually was.....i was filling my pants and pulled ova but...hehe

Yeah but the v8's dont care if they get a little hot. Mine idles, overheated, split the resivoir bottle, boiled dry stalled. Filled it up the next day and put the old bottle on and she went fine. I was ****ed because the bottle that spilt was brand spankers.

PetesEBII: interesting to see the comparison of temp versus guage reading

Regarding the EWP, I havent seen one in action but I've seen comments from the likes of JMM that they dont flow near enough to be even acceptable on a stock car. Do your fans have a shroud?

I cant fit a bigger radiator, i haved looked into it, as the supercharge bracket that is supplied with the kit, sits about 15mm from blower pulley.

Is there a shroud around the thermo fan? It is amazing how much difference one makes, as it makes the fan draw air from the whole radiator, not just a 12" round section of it.

Buy a bigger radiator, check out a new alloy one? They are getting cheaper plus more efficient..Double check your tune, it maybe close to detonation? Trust me you can't always hear it!...A cooler thermostate can help ...Along with colder plugs, thats more to prevent detonation though..A fan in front, can restrict air flow at higher road speed??

Getting a bigger radiator will not fix the problem just mask it.

Put air temp sensor in inlet manifold. See how much of your problem is from hot air. Check timing, may not ping but may still run hotter. Check ya thermostat.

Is your car manual or auto?

it is a auto, i was thinking of putting a davies craig electric w pump inline withthe factory unit, has anyone done this and what results, as these water pumps run at same speed all the time even can run when you turn off ur car.

That'll help your car cool down quicker after you turn it off, thats about it.

Have you re-fitted the shroud yet? And have you thought about fitting a pair of bonnet vents to extract more heat?

From my experience these pumps are not reliable at all, plus as NZ said they dont flow engoug for modified engines. I have used them and would never consider going back to one.
