I have bought a horn steering wheel unit from the wreckers and want to test it with the multimeter before I deliver it to my daughter in Broome. How do I go about it without blowing the airbag?

Set your multimeter to ohm's (or continuity tester if it has it) and put it across the horn plug, shouldn't get any reading until you press the horn pads.
Just don't get the airbag plug by mistake as the multimeter uses a 9v battery to test continuity and is enough to set it off!

I presume the horn plug is the one with the black and white wires?

IIRC the air bag plug goes into the middle of the air bag and the horn is a connector up the top
