Default Perth gumtree users fake $50 notes

.

Gents, if you are Perth Guntree users beware of fake $50 notes in circulation.

Usually small amounts $50-$250 are being transacted.

Do the "scrunch" test with the $50 notes, if they bounce back they are legit, if they stay scrunched they are fakes.

They also feel rougher in the hand.

All have the same serial numbers on them.

If you end up being duped, tottle off to the nearest cop shop and report it, there is jail time if you re-circulate and you are caught

Unless we get the word around so that all are aware, they won't

They have been circulating for awhile now, my mum lives in Hillarys and one of her neighbours handed one in early last year. She also told me about a Joondalup Deli owner complaining about Police not showing much interest when he reported been stung....

Edit: A bit of Googling and hey presto...

If you do come across someone trying to pass off a fake $50 note to you, don't try and confront them about it. Some of these type of people can become quite aggressive when you do this.

Just try and obtain their ID (make an excuse that you need it for the receipt of the goods). Once you have the ID make an excuse why you can't sell them the item. If they do not want to give you ID, once again, don't argue with them. Try and obtain a description (height, age, tattoos, what they were wearing etc) of them and/or the vehicle that they turned up in.

Yep, they are getting close to getting caught in the shops as the word gets around, hence why they are targeting Gumtree now
