Default EB Torque Converter or AU?

Im putting an EB auto trans into my au, we can't get the bell housing off either off them because u need a special tool....

Should we just keep the EB transmisson bell housing or try and actually swap them over?

Will it actually matter?

why not put a 4.1 crossflow in as well to completly downgrade the car? the EB tranny although a BTR is different and a backward step if you need to replace the tranny get an AU one

Are the torque converters and bell housings the same? If so, then you should be right just to bolt it up. If not, then you will need to change them over.

.........me wonders why you would attempt this if you don't know what you are doing!!!!

He should be able to use the AU shifter with the EB tranny - just swap everything over, and possibly custom fit (ie modify/cut/etc) the actuator bar.

The ECU wont run it... It should bolt up no worries but in the manuals the input shaft on the E-series is longer this might be the case with the auto as well im not sure i've never heard of anyone doing it??? the E-series box changes gears so slow and is a of a gearbox but hey if ya want to do it you probably could i dont see why but you will have ECU problems as the AU's ECU, IIRC is a one piece unit engine and gearbox were as the E-series has one for the box and one for the Engine i could be wrong...Have fun

Because he got one off ebay for about $50 or $100 - so even if it only works 75% as good as an AU one, it's less than 5% of the cost of a rebuilt AU tranny, and will do the job.

Hey mate i had an eb trans n stall in my au. The bel housing bolts are just a socket. Straight from ya standard set. U just have 4 instead of 8 bolts holding it there. Mine went fine. But it wouldnt engine brake in 1 2 or 3 and it would intermitently stay in drive. And wouldnt reverse. I think they were other issues NOT RELATED to it being in an au. As the gbox shop never mentioned anything when i asked about the issues i had.

That's the immobiliser kicking in. It is very difficult to "hot wire" an AU to get it to go. You have to use the key etc otherwise the inbuilt security features will not allow it to start.

I'd say your fluid is low. Service it (filter and fluid change) and it should be good.

yep that seem to have done it the filter was that blocked it could not get any oil in it but now it seems to make a bit of a knock when its changing gears could it be because of all the old oil in it >??????
