Hey guys wondering if someone can help me out. My car is not starting. When I put the car in accessories to warm up the glow plugs, all the electrics turn off.
Once I remove the key everything comes back on again ie radio and trip meter. I have checked the fuse box and they seem fine. Also does anyone know how to use the ford roadside assist? more than likely I will need to get my car towed to the local ford dealership. Thanks in advance globy.

check the fuses both in cabin and engine bay.
It could be just a loose/dirty battery which fails when you ask anything much of it but OK for the small amount the radio draws.terminal. This seems most likey unless you left the ignition on too long and flattened the battery which when not quite dead will allow use of radio. |

Checked both fuse boxes and they were fine.
When it first happenend the lights radio everything was still working. I measured the voltage on the battery it was 11.2V.

Sounds like you've dropped a cell in your battery, radio etc... may still work but as soon as you hit the starter it will die completely, unfortunate but very common in the colder weather as well :(

Factory battery???
Mine died at 3 years and 3 months. Worked fine when parked, wouldn't even turn the starter over the following day. And that was after a 2hr daytime freeway drive. Gave no indication it was on it's way out. If you have a dead battery, get NRMA (through the roadside assistance) to fit a new one. 3yr warranty, 600CCA and only about $30 more than what Repco sells with less CCA and only 2yrs. Plus you don't need to get your hands dirty, or dispose of the old battery.

It happened at 2pm this arvo.
I thought it was something else with the immobiliser so told my boss I wont be in tomorrow. I will update tomorrow when it hopefully gets sorted. I just hope I am not up for a new alternator.

Well hopefully it is sorted but I got a new battery.
Probably more than it should have been but I paid 670CCA battery installed from Ford for $283 including the radio code. NRMA quoted $250 intalled but I would have to pay $27 for the radio code. Another Ford dealership wanted $300 installed and wanted to charge me for the radio code.

Typical re the radio code....
I had a new radio installed under warranty and I looked through the paperwork for the code and it wasn't there. I slid the paperwork back to the guy and asked for the new code to be written down. His reply. "Don't need it written down, all you need to do is call and we will give it to you". So I replied that if it was so easy lets just save the phone call and give it to me now... he didn't like that answer, gave out a sigh and started single finger typing (bashing) to bring up my free code. Yeah, I can see in a few years if I needed it.. "Yeah mate, no worries.. $30 please"...
