Default Smoke coming from oil filler cap

I was checking around the engine bay after a recent drive and was surprised at the amount of heat from the engine bay.....I know it's pretty tight in the bay and there seems to be little room for the heat to dissipate.

I removed the engine filler cap and noticed smoke coming from the filler spout (engine was not running) and also from the spout after I removed the dipstick

Has anyone else noticed this???

Just to confirm that the car was not driven hard prior to me checking this and the check took place within a few minutes after the car was turned off.

That's pretty normal for all vehicles, not just the ST.

All of my previous cars have done it, I think you would be fine that being said, you could still ask your dealer if it still worries you, just for peace of mind.

My XR6T did it, so did the XR5. It's just vapour from the oil.

It's all good, no need to worry about it.

All cars do it, in years gone by the crankcase use to ventilate to atmosphere, and they had a pipe that use to spew everything onto the road and into the air. The PCV valve and 27A if I can recall stopped all that and it was all forced back into the intake to be burnt. I would not be concerned either.

Unsure what point it enters the intake system in our cars. Anywhere from the valve seats back to the entry point is exposed in direct injection engines and the amount depends on how much each engine generates.
