Hey people. Sunday night I took the mrs car down to get fish n chips only to get back in the car and it wouldnt start. Would not turn over but had battery life. We towed it home and got a mechanic to have a look as I thought it may be the starter motor. Well the mechanic told my Mrs that the car cant be a 2006 focus Zetec as they stop making them in 2005
Would anyone know if this is true and is their a way to find out if it is a zetec focus... He thinks its the starter motor and he said its not a zetec motor and if it was a zetec the starter motor wouldnt fail. Would anyone know what price a new starter motor is as he qutoed us a price and I dont wanna get ripped off. Thanks Marc |

I've got an 06 LS focus Zetec. The made the Zetec as a model of the focus until the LV focus a couple of years ago.
But this is where it can get confusing. The (mk1) LR focus had a Zetec motor & in 2005 with the (mk2) LS/LT/LV focus had a Duratec motor. There is also 2 versions of the Duratec motor. The 2L 4cyl & the 2.5L 5cyl turbo that is used in the XR5 & RS. Hope this helps. |

The answer is yes and no...
In the MK1 (LR) Focus a Zetec actually had a different engine fittingly called the Zetec. in the MK2 (LS/LT/LV) Focus, Zetec no longer meant it had a different engine but is just an indicator of the equipment level |

Your Zetec is just a badge, not related to the engine. You have a 2.0L Duratech engine.
You can confirm build details on : http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegS...C8D07.fcvas503

Replaced myself with used excellent genuine unit bought online for $60 plus $15 shipping. Sure beat $680 new from Ford. Problem fixed. Rather simple job.
