My mrs just informed me that the garage she takes her 07 focus TDI 6 sp to has just rang and said her car wont be ready this arvo.
They have replaced the fuel filter and now cant get it started.
Ive had this happen b4 on trucks and such ive worked on and arent sure of the fuel system setup on it.
Anyone else heard of this...?

bet they failed to properly bleed the fuel system When you replace the fuel filter you must bleed the system up at the top of the engine The pump does not do this for you!!IF it has airlock it will not get fuel!!

Time for a new service agent. Some of the newer style diesel systems require you to hold your foot flat and turn the key to prime the system but don't turn the ignition to the start position. Generally this process needs to happen 3-5 times before turning the key to the start position.

It may well be a manual bleed issue but any half decent mechanic can sort that in under 10 minutes. If they didn't fill the filter with diesel prior to fitting they aren't very smart.

Starting to think i should just service it me self.
Too many dipshit service agents out there.
Its outta warranty now so i think its time to start doin it.
Im a non practicing mechanic but im sick to death of having to re do and recheck all the time.......my own fault i suppose...

Bleeding is messy and so is the oil filter change as they are internal cartridge not spin on/off ones so they always drip fluid when you take them out.
The sump plug needs a 8mm allen key which is always a trap after you spend the time taking the plastic tray off under the engine.

Spoke to the mechanic, he said he changed the fuel filter and bled it up started it, ran for about 5 minutes then it died.
Now he cant get it to restart, tried everything, seems to think theres no voltage at fuel injectors or at the plug where ya plug yr diagnostic tool into.........
Sounding like trouble......

Mine took about 3 hours to manual bleed, my mechanic struggled with it a bit but it started fine.

Apparently they're a ***** to manually bleed, takes so long to do it, $50 on that.
