Got a 2007 Zetec, had it since new. The aircond has always been pretty average. I got it looked at under warranty way beck when but they said it was "normal".
anyhow now its not even trying.. just hot air and the fan has to be turned up full to get much hot wind. Just wondering if all MAs had crap aircond or if its worth bringing it to aircond specialist. What kind of money would an air cond over haul cost? cheers |

I had a 07, and the A/C was average to say the least.
When I was looking at upgrading, I drove an MC, and the difference was amazing. The GM of new car sales who sold it to me, asked me what I thought of the A/C, and when I said it was better than mine, he said they did a lot of work to get it better. It showed. If it is blowing hot air, you might need to see a specialist. But to me, the A/C was weak.

I had same issue with MA XR5 a/c which i got re-gassed under warranty, I recall several others raising a similar issue, which the re-gas seemed to fix to some degree, but it was never ice-cold.
Have to say that although MB was better, it was still not as cold as you might expect. Might be worth getting a quote for re-gas from specialist

Yep, MB is just above average and struggles with Australian inland-temp summer days
I too raised this poor aircon with the dealer - performing as expected. Humpf !!!! The 88 Camry I had briefly in the late 1990s was much better. |

It sounds like your gas leaked out. A/C specialist should be able to re-gas with die to find the leak and fix.
Or, if you are keen, you can purchase re-gas kits on the interwebs. Youtube it for instructions.

I have a bloke that comes to home and regasses our family fleet when they need it, probably a little more expensive than a shop, but very convenient.
6 years with no regassing is probably a pretty fair run I think. |
