Default A45 Drive

Hi all, had a Dr appointment yesterday so had the day off work. Had a lot of time to kill afterwards. Walking through the local Merc dealership and asked for pricing on a new A45. 85k drive away, not to bad I thought. "What options come for it" waiting to get the 20 pages 10k options list. " Just 3 sir, blackened wheels $500, aero pack $2000, sports suspension pack $2000, just be aware the sports suspension pack is very hard for the road". WTF that's cheap for any brand. Now thinking, shoot this is almost in my price range for next year, I started the discussion with them, forget about any deals, if you order now your car won't come unit June next year ( so much for Ranger supply issues), it was a quiet Thursday for the guy so he was happy for me to take the demo out for a test drive. The demo was a basic model, looked fairly plain. If anything the A250 with the diamond grill looks more impressive ( note to self if you do somehow manage to afford one, get the aero option). Inside is very impressive, looks and feels like a premium car. The seats have adjustable bolsters that can hug you like a fat kid at maccas. So we take off, gear changes are as good as you can imagine, lightening quick and jerk free (apart from the one doing the driving). The wheel feels so nice and relatively heavy. We get on the on ramp to the freeway and I give it some, very quick with no let up when I stopped it at 120, just getting warned up. Head down to the back streets near fishermans bend for some launching runs. The salesman sets up the launch control, I floor it........
F me, its quick, my car has 177awkw and it will literally put 4 lengths on me before I would change to second (I've done regular 4.8 - 4.9 0-100 in my car). You can finally feel the gear changes but they are so quick you don't actually notice them, just holding on and looking at the speedo so you don't get the car impounded. Before I bore you to much with my praise , my opinion of the car has changed after I drove it. It is stupid quick and simple to drive, no need to feather the throttle just point and squirt. If I can manage it I'd go the sports suspension and aero pack ( it needs the aero pack to set it apart fro the rest of the range, and at 2k the suspension pack sounds like a bargain). So 89k for a stupidly quick, easy to live German high performance car that makes you feel like Seb without the bad attitude. So do we keep the GHIA and trade in the Mazda next year, need to work on the boss soon. It really was that good, and it really does feel like your driving something special when your behind the wheel. Just the indicator is in satims side of the steering column.

The A45 is an absolute beast of a car, at quite a reasonable price point too.

Dyno link

"Renntech dyno'd the A45 AMG at 340.6HP to all four wheels."

So around 253 ATW, which is awesome!

Whirlpool has two huge threads on the A45, the members who have ordered them are receiving them and loving them. One guy lost his license on the test drive, LOL.
