Default Finding the history of my car.

I don't like my luck with this one,but I'm going to ask anyway,

Is there anyway of tracking down the following:
What original plates my '65 XP had back when it was new
& who the original owner was. I have my suspicions on who
may be the original owner thanks to a booklet of old pictures.
All I know is,the car was in Victoria from '65 to about the late 90's.

Have you tried contacting Ford's customer relationship centre? customers@fordcrc.com.au
I found them to be most helpful recently when I contacted them regarding one of our coupes. They sent me a letter confirming all the options our coupe had when it was sold originally, as well as who the dealer was. You could also contact your state's road authority (whoever you pay your rego to), they might be able to search their data base for previous owners. Plates do get changed tho so compliance plate info or a chassis number would give you more detailed info.

Sorry mate it's Ford's customer relations Email not a web address, Just send them a message asking what info you would like or call them on 133673. Like I said, I found them to be most helpful, they sent me a letter back verifying all the details I was looking for.

I did this recently for my AU2 & did it for my previous car, the XF.

You'll have to verify ownership of your car by copying your rego papers & licence & sending it to Ford. Takes a couple of weeks maybe but they will be able to give you the factory info on your car. ie: factory options, interior style, engine type/displacement, colour & anything else relevant. With my XF enquiry they even told me what type of tyres were on it & which dealer the car was sent to from the factory.

If the dealer who sold your car new still exists they may or may not have info on it. With a car that old you'll need lots o' luck.

To start your journey just go to https://www.ford.com.au/contact-us
OR Contact them at:

Phone: 13 FORD (13 3673)

With the our ZC and the XY we just emailed a copy of my licence and a copy of the rego papers in my name to: customers@fordcrc.com.au

The ZC took about 7 days but the XY we got a phone call 3 days after I sent the email and the lovely lady on the phone gave me the details and asked if I would like a copy of the details on an official verification letter emailed or posted out. I was emailed on the same day.

I found about a fair bit recently on my '66 XP, the AOMC have all the Vicroads records of registration for that period, however due to privacy they weren't given any of the previous owners histories, but they hold a fair bit of detail, contact details are here: URL="http://www.aomc.asn.au/eng&regrecords.htm"]Association of Motoring Clubs[/URL], you will need to have the original engine number to send them, it is located on the left hand shocker tower.

Ford have bugger all detail on pre-1969, I have tried them and they had nothing.

Vicroads had nothing as they sold all the old stuff to the Association of Motoring Clubs (see link), I tried that through F.O.I.

Also, there are a couple of blokes on FB who have a fair bit of knowledge, here is the link to the XM/XP Face book page (can't get link to work, search FB for 'Ford Falcon Coupe XM-XP')

You can even go to this Forum in the 'Classic' area, there are blokes in there with heaps of knowledge as well

That is for new cars I think. Doesn;t like the VIN for our ZC or XY. Comes back as the VIN not being of enough characters.
