Default No wonder respect for plod is declining...

http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/rea...-1226792214918

I like the comment.

He said the apology made "a little bit" of difference, but he questioned whether the fine would have been waived had they not been contacted by the Courier-Mail.

Yes I wonder.

Sounds like there is A LOT more to this story that wasn't put in the article.

Something happens because the fine has been reversed BUT I don't think the driver is 100% innocent.

Yea I'm the first to admit there are some police that are DSFW's but I would argue the are the exception rather than the rule

so is a blood alcohol level of .051 acceptable to get off with out reprimand?

I agree that 1 kmh over is a bit harsh to be done for, but there are limits, if you want to push the limits it may come back at you at some stage.

to keep the context it should be 0.050 as that is the reading that you will be booked at. At 60km/h you wont get a ticket.

The police officer did not use a speed gun to catch Mr Cassidy but measured the speed by driving behind him.
"He told me I was speeding and I said I wasn't and it kind of went back and forth," he said.
Mr Cassidy claimed that, during the argument, the officer told him the fine was a case of "revenue raising".

seriously people have to start recording the convos when they get pulled over.
lol

understand that we need to be under .05 but I thought many would be confused because they think you are ok at .05, which is why I put .051

I take it from that if it is true, that the cop agreed that 1 kmh is a joke, but he's probably doing what he is instructed to do, like any employee should do

Your correct.

A friend of mine knows him, he was driving an extensively modded 700hp 2JZ Supra with no mod plate.

Police cars speedo's are calibrated more accurately then our cars and many police cars have actual speed recording devices fitted, do not need radar all the time

I saw his ticket on his facebook page and it does indeed say 61 in a 60 zone. maybe the cop is doing it to bring the head honchos under scrutiny from the media? if a few people get done for +1, eventually someone like Toady Tonight will latch on to it.

Maybe so, but it is still a judgement and I doubt they could be that precise. Maybe 5 or 10 kays but not one.

in Vic you'd need to be doing an actual 63 in a 60 to get a fine, as there's a 2KM/h tolerance, which would make it 61. Above 100km/h it's a 3km/h tolerance from mobile detection and 2KM/h from fixed devices.

to be issued a fine for 1KM/h over the limit there may be more to the story.

Are they ????????

10% over was always the accepted standard.Due to many possible variations including tyre wear , temperature etc etc
For instance on a hot day your CAILBRATED police cars tyres will have increased in ciameter..... I think you can figure out the rest.

fair enough ratter
but he couldve too let him off if he thought it was a complete joke, like the article says he thought (if this is actually correct)
no radar, no speed trap, just following him he determined that he was speeding by 1kmh

cmon...
i prob sped by 1kmh an hr about 20 times yesterday driving the ute with no cruise control looking down at the dial 300 times on my trip

but it is what it is

I recon it has a lot to do with the story actualy, infact i think its just part of the whole lot more I was talking about.

I'd like to read a transcript of the conversation between the driver and the police. And I'd love to see what else he got done with on this occasion.

I disagree with you, but i'll leave it at the mods/admins discretion.
If they remove it so be it.

As far as i'm aware he's proud of it(hence why I was told) & it answered Yeti's open question.

The fine was for speeding wasn,t it???
Was he booked for no mod plate?????
Does it need a nod plate?????

Whats your point.???
The amount he was over is % 1.6666666
Tyre wear alone could have given an incorrect reading from the police car.

My friend who is a friend of another friend told me you where######
the other day!!!!!
Stick to the facts I think
