This statement has no more status than that of a rumour, but I heard it from a very reliable source, who is in a position to know what he is talking about.
If you are from Victoria, then you may be aware of the Broadford State Motorcycling complex. For those of you who are unaware, Broadford is about 65km north of Melbourne on the Hume freeway, they have a multi discipline motorbike facility that has motocross, supermotard, bitumen and speedway tracks. The land surrounding the track is covered by covenants that either prohibit building or mitigate the rights of owners to complain about noise pollution due to motorsport, as it is an existing facility that the shire supports. The rumour is that Bob Jane has purchased a parcel of land adjoining the motorcycle complex, with the sole intention of building a new drag racing facility. The zoning and planning arrangements of the area would make it the perfect place. I have read with interest, in earlier threads, the depth of feeling towards Bob Jane. As I said earlier, this is only rumour at this stage, but if it comes to fruition, then I think everyone would agree that it would be a positive. |

Why not continue with Calder ? If he was going to build a new one, calder would have to go further down the drain then it already is. As far as I can see, fixing calder (which there has been alot of talk about lately), would be the better option.

It's pretty hilly there... I would be surprised if anyone wanted to build there.

yes i heared this rumour a while ago, i got told they were thinking of biulding up past the ford factory, but broadford sounds better as its close to the hume highway so not to far for the sydney guys, lets all hope that one of these rumours about building a new track come true!!!

If they want to build a strip they should build it closer to the city. Calders a fair trek and being so far north would also be a fair trek as well. Should build one south of the city.

Where is broadford in comparison to heathcote?
Maybe he is thinking of selling all the calder property? He would make a fortune if it was all sold off.

I've been told that plans have been approved for a multi purpose drag and race circuit near Avalon/Lara area.

Ok think of it this way
If Bob Jane divided all the land of Calder Park and turned it into housing development think of the money he would make.. That money could be spent on making one hell of a motor sport complex to cover all motor sport .. eg 4wding/mud Racing, Drag Racing, Speed way and the list goes on .. Just my 2 Cents worth
