How dare a business turn a profit, shame on them!
Always makes me laugh the protesters of Chinese made goods, yet if you had a Chinese made TV for $300 next to an Australian made $600 TV you know which one you would pick, don't pretend you would spend extra on the Australian made one.

Next you will be complaining about Globalization, yet as a result of Globalization Australia has benefited significantly, chances are a lot of people on here jobs are linked by the results of Globalization.

Byooty, how did Gunns "decimate" the forest? Tasmania has had some massive chances to really fire up the local economy but your local government just keeps screwing things up.

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

Chinese investors own less than 1% of Australian farms.
It's the biggest scaremongering campaign that somehow the Chinese are "invading" our farms. OTHER countries own a far bigger percentage of Australian farms than the Chinese do, that's why the term "Foreign" investment of Australian farms should be used, because it is a larger percentage.
And to top that off the Liberal Government now scrutinizes foreign dealings a lot more now.

Australia just does not have the population or business leaders that will invest in Australian investments, that's why we need foreign investment for growth, it's so important for the economy.

That's a pretty simplistic view. I'm guessing you forgot to factor rising material costs, insurances, work cover, permits, cost of living and labour.

But hey, never mind that, don't let the mongrels make a profit!

BTW, you, yes you the consumer has demanded lower prices and you forfeited your job for it.

Now go get on social media with a simplistic view to get your support.

As was mentioned before, the Chinese don't have a monopoly own foreign ownership. As this chart shows they may be at the top but there are 13 other foreign countries below them

Everyone buy Australian...and soon as a company gets the numbers they covertly relocate overseas, or sell out.

Greed wins, deal with it.

Greed is good... as long as I am the beneficiary... If anyone else benefits, well they are just greedy!

I would be more than happy to buy local and pay more only if the warranty was faster and more efficient than if I bought direct from overseas. But usually the aussie supplier has bought from overseas anyway and possibly from the same supplier you were going to go thru anyway but added a 100% mark up on the product for privilege.

Now its come back full turn to bite them and us on the bum.
Nothing to do with greedy retailers, fistly goverment started us down this path allowing the flood of cheap imports in, secondly retailers want to stay in business and sell stuff, the majority of consumers dont want to pay an additional 5 bucks for an australian item and will buy the cheap crap from one of the many thousands of import shops dotted around the country, I say import shop because thats what 99% percent of them are.
as for the australian textile clothing industry ............ that was a sacrificial lamb long before the ozzy motor industry.

There used to be a big textile industry here in Australia.

USED to be.

USED to be - this gets back to things like the 1976 Lima Agreement, where 'western developed countries' agreed to send manufacturing jobs into then third world countries like China - to help them develop.

And much agenda has played out since, and before that time.

Only a financial loon would make stuff here in AUS.
