Ford do nothing to help themselves. They want to close early, this speculation will only give them more reason to do so. Market confidence is dwindling away quickly.

The media. At it again, if Ford does close early, Holden will be targeted next and if they close early it will be Toyotas turn. I wonder out of all three manufactures left, which one would really be losing the most money???

What's the problem here, Ford do nothing to sell locally made cars and would benefit significantly in terms of loosing money if they pull out early.

For them it is win/win. Trust me, it will be well before 2016. I would give the 201X 6-12 months then there will be some excuse why they have to stop, most likely a parts supplier falling over, and Ford will refuse to bail them out like they have done in the past to keep production going.

I have always thought it would be a miracle if we get to see FH. Its obvious Ford want to close early, and I would too if I were them. Who on earth is going to introduce a new model at the 11th hour? There is NO WAY we'll see the FH. It will cost them too much.

Ford have been working for several years on the new Falcon and Territory; they are committed due to the government assistance received, so I expect the new models will be released.

The last paragraph of the article implies that Ford will face losing hundreds of millions of dollars in losses if it rolls out the new Falcon in August. The troll writer does not realise millions of dollars has already been spent on it, and there's no going back.

And the title is all wrong. Ford will NOT close early.

Journalism at its worst.

We will see the 201X no problem at all, the money has pretty much all been spent, and it's in the final stage of development. It's after that, when Ford have fulfilled it's obligation to the government to release it as part of the government funding they received that it becomes a big grey area.

When the losses keep pilling up they will get jack of it and pull it when they can't take anymore losses. They will not sustain losing hundreds of millions for 2 years that's for sure. It could all be over in as little as 9-12 months.

This is fear talking, the Union doesn't know because Ford doesn't know either....
Nothing has changed, this is just the media printing a collection of political brain farts.

But will they lose hundreds of millions?
Remember the previous year's loss is completely due to an impairment l taken on buildings and infrastructure write downs,
not losses from vehicle sales. A lot of this is clearly being engineered because head office wants FoA's books simplified by "One Ford"

Speaking of circling Vultures....

To be fair to FoA the have never guaranteed the would stay open, only not later than October 2016.

I'd love them them to reverse this decision and produce RHD F-series SUV's or other high value vehicle. But I'm dreaming.

Ford & PR ? Is there such a thing.
I remember when the EBGT was being talked about. I knew more than the dealer about it, & ended up buying one later. But the dealers didnt know a thing about them, same with XR8 Sprints.. Just hopeless.

A Union bloke says that "Fords future is unclear"

Ford says they "Have every intention to be manufacturing till Oct 2016"

Paper reports ......... "Ford will close early"

....... so the report is correct?

Stupid .........

I never heard of Dave Smith before all this started....didn't think I'd hear that name again. But here he is again sticking his 2c in, now that manufacturing is doomed, to give it another push along the road to early oblivion. Does that make sense for the members? I'm puzzled. Draining confidence in the close date can't be a positive can it?

Ford may not be completely open, just like every car manufacturer with long lead times for product development. However where have they been dishonest?

They have been not very kind to the Falcon .... that is for sure ..... but I still think they have been as forthcoming as they can? I don't think they owe anyone anymore information about their future than what has been published and said already?

I am sure there is quite a bit they are not telling us, but as briefly mentioned above, they have probably been more open than Holden and Toyota showing their hand earlier when the others most definitely had made their future closure plans ...... and like every other company in the whole wide world ..... there is no need to lay all their cards on the table publically.

When everything is said and done ..... they only need to appease their shareholders in the end. Not the general public, in a business sense/

Possibly ..... if no one buys the FH they may be forced into a position but 12 months for a model, cant see it myself. October 2016 gives the FH exactly 2 years both Terry and Falcon.
