Default EL 4.0L head gasket

Hi There,
I'm about to do a EL headgasket (1st time on an EL) and was wondering if there are any tricks or tips to be weary of?
Thanks,
James.

Yeah use new head bolts, use AU head gasket, and torque it down as per AU specs.

dump 100% of coolant.

make sure both the head and block are 100% clean and straight before bolting back together.

I'd have the head shaved as well, it's the only way it will be truly straight.

Be REAL carefull when removing the head if you don't intend on replacing the timing chain guide. If you twist or move the head around when removing or replacing it the guide will snap pretty easy. If you do you will have to drop the sump and remove the timing cover to replace it.
