Default Brake fluid type?

An easy one for someone,

Is dot 4 ok for use on an 07 LT TDCI?

Low level light comes on occasionally. Pads are down a bit but not done yet so I thought a little top up would suffice.

Cheers

Recommended fluid is Super DOT4 to ESD-M6C57-A Specification.

Unfortunately, ESD-M6C57-A spec brake fluid is very difficult, if not impossible, to come across in Australia.

The post below is well worth a read: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11370556

Surely Ford stock it, if that is what they recommend?

Not according to the above link I posted. The guy had to source it from the UK. Try a Google search for "ESD-M6C57-A" in Australian sites only - not much comes up at all.

Ok, got that, call me **** but you have a 07 model and you are topping up? I never let brake fluid go past 2 years before a complete flush, maybe just the way I am, never in a position to need to top through pad wear.
