Default Unable to access forums from home internet.

Having trouble getting the website to come up from my home internet but comes up fine on my phone using mobile data, but as soon as I turn wifi on it cannot find the site. My PC can't see the site at all on wifi, even trying different browsers and restarting computer. All other sites work fine.

Any tips to get it working? My ip blocked for some reason?

You have been banned for putting too much power through your poor old rear tires man.
I was having a drama with the website a few weeks ago, heaps of popups and not scrolling properly.
Turned out to be the wrong setting on my pc. Had to do a total reboot.

Open up your command prompt (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/w...-prompt-window) and type the following.... clicking enter afterwards:

ping www.fordforums.com.au

What happens after you click enter?

Tell me what shows up. If you get a message saying request timed out, try typing the following and tell me what appears:

ping 66.226.77.74

That's good. What it tells us that it's a DNS issue. In other words your internet is having issues trying to understand where fordforums.com.au points to.

There's a couple of things that can be done, however both aren't considered super easy for a general user. Below are the best options:

1. Go into your network adapter settings on your PC and add the following as your static DNS:

Preferred: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4

This fix however is more a work-a-round and will only resolve issue for your PC, and not everything else on your network.

2. And this is your best option... is logging into your home router/modem and changing your DNS server settings to the same as what I placed above:

Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4

This will tell your internet connection to use Google's servers for DNS, which will fix your current issue and any other website you haven't noticed isn't actually working for you.

If you have any issues, tell me your modem's model and I'll try my best to walk you through the change.

No probs. Could've been anything really. It's more than anything just the crap ISP provided DNS servers having a hissy-fit.

Using Google's DNS servers are recommended as really... when has Google ever been down? lol

Which fix did you attempt mate?

If through the router, what DNS settings were there beforehand? If any?

Thanks mate. Might be worth rebooting router for change to take effect. Might also be worth checking if your changes still show on the router side after the reboot.

Bit odd that issue is still being experienced. It definitely sounds like a DNS issue from the router end, seeing as you mentioned that your phone when connected through WiFi has same issue.

Just for ***** and giggles... we know that you can ping 66.226.77.74, so how about I get you to open up your web browser and enter that IP address in the address bar field. The Ford Forums page SHOULD display.

If it does, I have a work-a-round fix which will at least get your PC showing the the forums here correctly. Only issue with this fix is if the public IP address here changes (Ie. If Ford Forums changes webhosts etc.) you once again will have issue viewing Ford Forums from your PC.

Using that ip let's me onto the site. However after logging in, it forgets I'm logged in, no matter if the password is saved.

Might have to call the isp and see if they have an idea

I'm having the same issue, also with Telstra..
Did the forum move servers at all?

Could be linked to what size screen is being displayed on?

Works fine on my mobile, doesn't work on my laptop, yet I'm hot spotting my laptop with my mobile data.

Yeah, it's definitely a Telstra DNS issue..
Our Telstra ADSL can't find the forum but our business Telstra Fibre can.
It seemed to drop off around 2pm Perth time (4pm EST)

the command nslookup will tell you if your DNS has an entry for fordforums.com.au

This command is testing my default DNS server which is my DSL router. The second is using one of Telstra's

It won't be a website side issue as we have no control over DNS resolution and we certainly haven't made any changes to DNS in about the last 5 years.

Telstra and Optus (amongst others) do have intermittent issues with their DNS servers.

Cheers

Just doesn't make sense though. As if the issues was DNS using Internode/Telstra, the change in using Google's DNS should have resolved issue straight away.

No, not always. You need to verify which DNS server your machine is using. Sometimes they are configured in your TCP settings on your machine

Additionally there is a local cache on your machine which you may have to flush.

I showed you above how to validate which DNS server you are using as well as to test another DNS. Can you do that and post the results here so we can help you.

I had a similar issue yesterday. Except no devises worked and as you can see from my location it wasn't Telstra or Optus.

I'm glad it seems fine now today. As I can't use the work around here as Google is blocked.
