I note the new Jaguar F type R has a 5.0 supercharged V8 producing 404kw.
Magically that is what FPV claim from their 5.0 supercharged V8. Almost identical Does anyone know technically how close these engines are? I note no one has any issue with Jaguar quoting 404kw form a blown 5.0. However when FPV did it the world stopped and it was scrutinised to within an inch of its life. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knows the tech specs and can expalin the similarities or disparities of these two engines.

Very good question. The AJ-V8 Gen III was developed under Ford's watch wasn't it, and the Miami came along not long afterwards.
It really does make you wonder how much of one went into the other. Lukeyson

Dual VVT and direct injected for starters and I'm pretty sure they're intercooled too. Also Jaguar arn't claiming anything about over-boost so the 404 kw rating is good for all conditions. I think the compressdion ratio's are similar. Other than that IIRC the marketing blurb that came out when the SC engine was launched here claimed it had over 40% Austrlaian made content that was unique to the the engine here. |

the Miami/coyote is a modular series engine and a evolution of the 4.6l but with new heads, bigger bore, more stroke, I would say the jag v8 is unique to jaguar/ landrover

They're both very different engines but Jaguar did get one bit of the tech from the Coyote- the cam-torque actuated VCT. That's not to say they have the same cam phasers or anything, just that they use the same VCT actuation concept developed by Ford. I understand it allows for a more complete function at low RPM when there isn't much oil pressure/flow available.

I believe the Coyote and Jag engine both share the same bore spacings and a few other common design principles Even though parts may not interchange.
