Ford are very conservative with their power numbers. Power they make at the wheels indicates they all pretty much make a fair bit more power than they are quoting.
The big sheet fight and the class law suits they copped a decade or so ago with the Mustang Cobra have made them very gun shy on what they quote, because the Cobra made less than advertised and owners were far from pleased. Ford even recalled them and fitted new intake manifolds and exhausts, which had casting flash and exhausts which were not to the correct specs that the suppliers were supposed to provide. So now they always under quote, so something like that doesn't happen again. |

Nobody is saying that, just don't unfairly slag off Ford when you change camps. There is nothing wrong with being a Chrysler fan now you own one (I happen to like them too and the Dodge Challenger) but your attitude (and your posts reflect it) towards Ford is a bit childish. |

It wouldn't surprise me if the Mustang GT with PP could beat the Hellcat Challenger around a track even with 250+ less HP.

Trouble with the 99 Cobra was it had a quoted 320hp, but was getting easily beat by 305hp Camaros. But at the time the Camaros actually had 350hp.
So alot of Mustangers were ****ed-off they were getting smoked by 'lesser' powered Chevs.

I'm not comfortable buying another 5.0 coyote engine vehicle after the last one drank oil like a greedy fish so until they bring something else down-under... Oh..and if a SC FPV R Spec can't account for a SRT8 around a track, (Motor magazine February 2013), what chance a live axle 2011 Mustang Last edited by Rodge; 05-08-2014 at 02:02 PM. |

So you think a SRT8 is quicker round a track than a M3?

Oh the accountant bagging his old FPV again, what a suprise. Don't get me wrong I like your 300 but your taking the gangster attitude too far. Go throw some praise at the vf hsv range on ls1.
Yeah the hellcat is a beast! Was the 11.2 run an auto? Because I'm sure the Shelby GT500 run an 11.6 in Manual form, it would surely do better with an auto.

PM me your address and have a look at your street tomorrow
All I'm saying is its a bit unusual for a manufacturer to come out and say we'll beat another manufacturers engine...seems the Hellcat has upset them. Thing is if Ford up the ante you don't think we'll get a Hellcat Mk2 with a bigger supercharger and more boost ? End result is guess who wins...the consumer The Hemi engine is a beast NA or SC AND doesn't drink oil !!!! Last edited by Rodge; 05-08-2014 at 03:47 PM. |

Oraha Rd Kumeu Rodge. Let me know so I can watch, if R Spec was still in shed I'd cloud the street.
Lets just wait and see what Ford do, look at the last GT500 blew them away and I don't see Ford America letting the title go. These OHC engines are far more efficient with blowers/turbos added so let's watch it unravel.

Shez, I'm not going all that way tonight.
Look, before you all think I've lost the plot completely with Ford that's not true. One of the NZFF guys had a Roush Mustang at a dyno shoot-out last year and it was an absolute beast. The off road exhaust sound was off the charts good and they look bloody good too. When one of them arrives in RHD with independent suspension then we're talking Here's a clip, turn up your computer speakers and enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDKrCePER5k I wonder if Ford will supply these with a free set of ear muffs so you don't go deaf I think I could "make do" with 575 h.p. If anyone really believes that Ford will let the Mustang play second fiddle to a land barge (a high powered one granted) has rocks in their head.

15 Mustang does look good Magpie and will be a very good bit of kit with those huge brakes, adjustable DSC settings and so on and for those that expect current technology in their car, (like me), there's the tech pack with adaptive cruise control e.t.c.e.t.c.
I'm in my 50's now so couldn't really GAF if Ford make and engine that's more powerful than the 707 h.p. hellcat and SRT respond with an even more outrageous MK2 Hellcat...ultimately the customer is the winner with this horsepower war no matter which brand they choose but all this, (at least in my mind), does beg the question of how much horsepower do you really need / want to pay for in a street car ? For my money and taste 500 h.p. is plenty...although having said that, that Roush intercooled Mustang making 575 h.p. is bloody outrageous |
