Probably less Fords sold in Australia in a year than a moderate sized dealership in a big city in the USA sells in a month...why would they even bother with us?

I dont see the issue, we will still be able to buy it on release. We know who engineered and designed it and where the kudos belong.

But it has been revealed here already, over a year ago in August 2013.
At the Ford Australia Go Further event, held in Sydney. Sure it was called a concept and had big tyres on flash chrome wheels and probably more bling than the standard items will but I consider it's already been revealed. I don't expect any surprises, but more of the details, from the China event.

Ford retail sales in China last year was approx. 1million units. The same as the total new car sales in Australia. In Nanjing alone on one weekend last year, I understand that 40,000 Fords were sold. that puts the market into some sort of perspective and suggests where Ford are going to spend their money. It's fortunate that we have an excellent skills base at Ford here that we are leveraging to keep the engineering work here even if we cannot manufacture any longer. |

Should they have checked with us aussies first before deciding where to launch it? You probably overestimate AUs position on the global automotive pecking order.

Whinge whinge whinge. Who cares where it is revealed. With the Interwebs, it makes no difference.

I think this is good news. Ford Australia is part of the big picture now, no longer just some little outpost down under, they're playing their part in the global Ford empire and that's great.

100%..unless it was some wicked V8 I dont know why you would bother with anything else....even a 4 pot TDi would be better than a petrol.

Kind of makes you wonder whats the point of revealing a car so early when we don't get it for what seems like years.
Like the "new" Mondeo for example by the time we get it, its already 2 years old. |

I would imagine it will be manufactured in Thailand alongside the Ranger?

Takes some shine off the opposition etc...but yeah its a bit of a gamble. But if your current sales are rottern then there is not much harm.

It'll have a diesel for sure, but it would be nice if it also had a decent petrol motor too.
Id only bother with the soot chucker if I was towing, otherwise the 2.3L 200kw/430nm ecoboost would be my pick. Or the new 2.7L V6 with 240kw/510nm

You do realise that statement, is nearly as bad as comparing it to a Falcon.
They are Chalk & Cheese, and it is not a replacement of the Tezza

So the Everest and Explorer will be revealed within a week of each other. The argument for petrol vs diesel continues, they just need to offer both. I think the 2.7 ecoboost would win over some diesel fans if offered.

Ecoboost petrol engines give diesel like power and economy. without the noxious black soot.
The only reason you want a diesel is fuel economy. an yep that a big reason, in fact one of the biggest. But if you could get diesel economy from a petrol engine, would you care if it's diesel or petrol? PS I don't care its launched in China. In fact I think its good. Showing off our engineering talents to the world. I also think it's a good looking rig. I bet they scab out on the big wheels and tyres for the production versions, which will be a pity. Because that thing has stance.

DJM83 so you can only post positive comments on FORD ?? Isn't a FORUM for open and frank discussion..positive or negative on FORD vehicles ????? OK...so....
The FGX is a fantastic vehicle, has no faults and deserves 100% praise.. My only criticism of the FGX is no G8E......I haven't commented on styling etc etc... FOCUS... what a marvelous gear box the double clutch is, engages smoothly everytime..!!!! Off my soap box...
